Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026
This policy explains what personal information MVP Clean ("we", "us") collects when you use our app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to customers who book cleans and to cleaners who offer them.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a one-way hash) and profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them (Apple may give us a private relay address).
- Booking details: the address to be cleaned, apartment or unit, ZIP code, dates and times, the type and length of clean, extras, notes for the cleaner, and ratings you leave.
- If you work as a cleaner: your home address (to offer you nearby jobs), cleaning experience, availability, your ID check (see "ID checks" below), and your certificate of insurance and its details (insurer, policy number, coverage and expiry date). Your identity, tax and bank details for payouts are collected by Stripe, not by us (see section 3).
- If you run a cleaning company: the business's legal name, EIN, address, contact details, and certificate of insurance and its details, and for each team member you add, their name, phone number, photo and their ID check. You must have your team members' permission to give us their information. The company's payout account is with Stripe (see section 3).
- Messages you send us, for example through Help or by email.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device type and operating system, app version, a random device identifier used for app updates, and a push-notification identifier if you allow notifications.
- Server logs: IP address, date and time, and the pages or features requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.
We don't use your device's GPS location, and we don't use advertising trackers or sell advertising.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account, take bookings, match bookings with nearby cleaners, and send confirmations, reminders and updates.
- To take payments, issue refunds, and pay cleaners.
- To verify cleaners' identity before they can take jobs, and to keep the service safe: preventing fraud, investigating complaints and enforcing our Terms.
- To answer questions and resolve problems with a clean.
- To keep the app working and improve it, including delivering app updates.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.
3. Who we share it with
- Between customers and cleaners: cleaners who are offered your booking see its date, time, size and address so they can decide whether to take it; the cleaner who accepts it also sees your name and the details needed to do the clean. We don't show your email address or phone number to cleaners who are only offered the booking. Customers see a cleaner's name, photo, rating and profile, never their home address.
- Between cleaning companies and their team: a company sees its team members' profiles, the jobs it assigns them, and for those jobs the customer's name, address and phone number. A team member who uses the app sees the jobs assigned to them.
- Stripe processes card payments and refunds, and provides cleaners' payout accounts (identity verification, bank details, payouts and tax forms). Stripe's use of your information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Google turns addresses into map coordinates so we can find nearby cleaners, and provides Google sign-in if you choose it. Apple provides Sign in with Apple if you choose it.
- OneSignal delivers push notifications if you allow them.
- ID checks (Stripe Identity): before cleaners and company team members can take jobs, they verify their identity with Stripe. Stripe collects a photo of a government ID and a selfie, and uses facial recognition technology to compare the selfie with the photo on the ID. Stripe keeps the images and the face comparison; we receive only the result, the name and the date of birth on the ID. Stripe's use of this information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy. If we can't offer an ID check, we ask for a photo of your ID and a proof of address instead and review them ourselves.
- Background checks (Checkr): where we require one, a cleaner or company team member gives their details (such as Social Security number and date of birth) and consent directly to Checkr, which runs the check as a consumer reporting agency. We send Checkr the person's name and email address, and receive the outcome (clear, under review, approved or not approved). We review any report in Checkr's secure dashboard rather than storing it. A company that orders a check for a team member sees only the outcome. Checkr's use of this information is governed by the Checkr Privacy Policy.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only on our website and only if you accept our cookie notice: Meta's pixel and our server tell Meta when you visit or apply through our website, so we can see which of our ads work and show them to people likely to be interested. We send your email address, phone number and ZIP code only in hashed (scrambled) form. Meta's use of this information is governed by the Meta Privacy Policy. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie choices" at the bottom of our website. Our apps don't use this.
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers and database in the United States. We also use an email delivery provider to send account and booking emails.
- When required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us, and in connection with a merger or sale of our business (you'll be told if your information becomes subject to a different policy).
These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons (typically payment records for up to 7 years) or to resolve an open dispute. Cleaners' ID documents and ID check results are kept while their cleaner profile is open and deleted when they ask us to close it; we also ask Stripe to delete the ID images and selfie then. Server logs are kept for up to 14 days.
5. How we protect it
Connections to our app and website are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Cleaners' ID documents are kept in private storage that only our admin team can access. Card and bank details are handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you as required by law.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can see and update your details in the app under Account.
- You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
- You can delete your account in the app: Account → Delete account (instructions without the app: https://api.mvpclean.com/delete-account). Your personal information is erased right away; records of past bookings and payments are kept without it.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing hello@mvpclean.com. We'll confirm the request comes from you and respond within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights, such as to know what we collect and to not be discriminated against for using your rights. We honor these requests for all users as described above.
7. Children
MVP Clean is not for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make significant changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
