Terms of Service
Effective October 14, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and MVP Clean ("MVP Clean", "we", "us"). They apply when you use the MVP Clean app or website to book home cleaning ("customers") or to offer cleaning services ("cleaners"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy and Cancellation Policy, which are part of these terms.
1. What MVP Clean is
MVP Clean is a marketplace. We connect people who want their homes cleaned in New York City with independent cleaners, and we handle booking and payment. Cleaners are not our employees, agents or representatives; they run their own businesses and decide whether to accept a job. We check cleaners' identity documents before they can take jobs, but we do not supervise how a cleaning is done.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract.
- One account can be used to book cleans, to work as a cleaner, or both. Keep your login details private; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date, including your address and phone number.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts anyone at risk, or is used for fraud.
3. Bookings and prices (customers)
- The price is shown before you book. It's based on the length and type of clean and any extras you choose, plus applicable sales tax, minus any promo code.
- Promo codes apply to the price before tax, one code per booking, and only on the terms shown with the code (for example, a first-clean code works once per customer, on their first paid booking). They have no cash value, can't be transferred or sold, and we may refuse or reverse a code used in breach of its terms, such as by opening extra accounts.
- When you book, you authorize us to charge your card through our payment processor, Stripe. We don't store your full card number.
- Recurring cleans: if you choose weekly, every-two-weeks or monthly cleans, you authorize us to charge your saved card for each visit before it happens, until you cancel the recurring booking. You can skip a visit or cancel the recurring booking in the app; fees for short notice are in the Cancellation Policy.
- Give the cleaner safe access to your home at the booked time and tell them about anything they need to know (pets, alarm codes, fragile items, areas to avoid). If they can't get in, the visit may be treated as a late cancellation.
- Cleaners bring standard supplies unless the booking says otherwise. They aren't required to move heavy furniture, work at unsafe heights, clean biohazards or handle anything illegal or dangerous.
4. Cancellations, refunds and problems
Cancellation and skip fees, and when refunds apply, are set out in our Cancellation Policy. If something goes wrong with a clean, or something is damaged or missing, tell us within 48 hours at hello@mvpclean.com with photos if you can. We'll look into it with the cleaner and, where appropriate, arrange a re-clean or a full or partial refund. We don't provide insurance for your property; claims for damage are between you and the cleaner, though we'll help where we can.
5. Working as a cleaner
- Independent contractor. You provide cleaning services as an independent business, not as our employee. You choose your availability, your service area and which jobs to accept, and you decide how to do the work, consistent with the booking.
- Eligibility. You must be at least 18 and legally allowed to work in the United States. Before taking jobs you must verify your identity with our ID check (a photo of a valid government ID and a selfie, checked by our provider Stripe) or, where we ask for them, submit a photo ID and proof of address for review, and keep your profile accurate.
- Pay. For each completed clean you receive the clean's price before tax and promo codes, minus our service fee (20% of the clean's price). Promo codes are our cost, and sales tax is ours to collect and remit; neither reduces your share. If a clean is refunded to the customer, your share is reduced by the same proportion, including after it has been paid out.
- No-commission plan. Instead of our service fee, you can subscribe to the No-commission plan for $49 a month or $490 a year, paid in advance through Stripe. For cleans done while you're subscribed (by the date of the clean), you receive the clean's price before tax and promo codes, minus the card processing fee Stripe charged on that customer's payment; everything else in this section still applies, including refunds. If you've never subscribed before, your first month is free. The plan renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel or switch between monthly and yearly at any time; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and payments already made aren't refunded. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you.
- Payouts. We pay you through Stripe. To receive payouts you must set up a Stripe account and accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Your share of a clean is sent to Stripe the day after the clean, and Stripe pays it to your bank on its schedule. We never see your bank details.
- Background checks. We may require a background check before you take jobs. It's run by our provider Checkr, and only after your ID is approved. You order and pay for it in the app (the fee is shown first and isn't refundable once Checkr has sent you its invitation). Checkr gives you the legally required disclosures, asks for your written consent and runs the check; we receive the outcome. If the report contains anything, we review it individually as New York law requires, and if we decide not to approve it, Checkr sends you the required notices, a copy of the report and time to respond or dispute it before the decision is final.
- Insurance. You must carry general liability insurance covering your cleaning work, of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence. Before taking jobs, upload a current certificate of insurance with its details for our review, and upload your renewal before it expires. We stop offering you jobs while your insurance is missing, expired or not approved. Your insurance is in addition to, and doesn't replace, your responsibility for the work you do.
- Taxes and costs. You're responsible for your own taxes, licenses, supplies, transportation and insurance. Stripe may issue you a Form 1099 for tax reporting.
- Conduct. Arrive on time, do the work professionally and honestly, respect customers' homes and privacy, and follow the law. Don't take or use anything that isn't yours, don't bring anyone else to a job unless the booking allows it, and don't ask customers for payment or contact outside the app for jobs found through MVP Clean.
- Cancelling jobs. If you can't do an accepted job, cancel in the app as early as possible so we can find someone else. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may lead to removal.
- We may stop offering you jobs or close your cleaner profile if you break these terms, receive repeated serious complaints, or no longer meet the eligibility requirements.
6. Cleaning companies
A cleaning business can join MVP Clean as a company and send its own team to jobs. Section 5 applies to the company and to every member of its team, with these additions:
- Signing up. The person who signs up the company confirms they're authorized to act for it. The company gives us its legal name and EIN, and a current certificate of general liability insurance (at least $1,000,000 per occurrence) covering its team's work, and keeps them up to date. Its team can't take jobs while the company's insurance is missing, expired or not approved. We may check them, and we decide whether to approve the company.
- The team. Team members work for the company, not for MVP Clean. The company is responsible for its team: hiring, supervising and paying them, and making sure each is at least 18 and legally allowed to work in the United States. Each member must pass our ID check (or, where we ask for them, have their photo ID and proof of address approved by us) before they can be assigned to jobs. Where we require background checks, the company orders and pays for one for each member, on the same terms as for independent cleaners (Checkr asks the member for their own consent). The company must have each member's permission to share their information and documents with us, and should point them to our Privacy Policy.
- Jobs. Jobs near the team are offered to the company, which assigns an approved member. The company is responsible for the member it sends and for cancelling early if no one can go. Customers see the assigned member's profile and rate their clean.
- Pay. For every clean its team completes, the company receives the share described in section 5, through the company's own Stripe account. A company can subscribe to the No-commission plan described in section 5; one subscription covers its whole team. The company pays its team members; we don't pay them directly. The company is responsible for its own taxes, payroll, workers' compensation and insurance.
- We may stop offering jobs to a company or to any member of its team, or close the company's profile, for the same reasons as in section 5, or if its business details or insurance lapse or turn out to be inaccurate.
7. Ratings and content
Customers can rate cleans. Ratings must be honest and about the service. You keep ownership of photos and text you add, and you give us permission to use them to run the service. Don't post anything unlawful, abusive or someone else's private information.
8. Using the service fairly
Don't misuse the app or website: no scraping, reverse engineering, interfering with security, creating fake accounts or bookings, or using the service to harass anyone. Don't use MVP Clean to find a customer or cleaner and then arrange jobs with them directly to avoid our fees.
9. Changes and availability
We improve the app regularly, sometimes automatically. We may change these terms; if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service means you accept it. We try to keep the service available but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: the service is provided "as is"; we're not responsible for the acts or omissions of customers or cleaners; and our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us (or, for cleaners, the fees we kept) in the 12 months before the claim, or $100. We're not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
11. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. If you have a problem, please contact us first at hello@mvpclean.com; most issues can be resolved quickly. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court.
12. Ending your account
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account), or ask us to by writing to hello@mvpclean.com. Upcoming bookings and, for cleaners, upcoming jobs must be cancelled or finished first. Some information may be kept as described in our Privacy Policy, for example payment records we must keep by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (payments owed, disclaimers, limits of liability, disputes) survive the end of your account.
